It seems like famous Punjabi singer R Nait's new song 315 has landed in legal trouble. R Nait's song 315 has come under the scanner for allegedly promoting gun culture. In the past, Punjab Government had issued a directive prohibiting Punjabi singers, actors, and actresses glorify weapons or gangster culture.
R NAit's song was released 2 weeks back on his YouTube channel and it has 3.7 million views (while writing).
Apart from R Nait, the song has also been sung by Gurlez Akhtar. In the song, weapons have been openly displayed and gangster image has been glorified.
The song also features self-proclaimed social worker Bhaana Sidhu. Sidhu can be seen acting with weapons.
One of the few lines in the song reads, "Bigdi mandir diya bhajda pavandi, 1980 di jammi 315" that means in English- means Gun 315 made in 1980 to drive away enemies.
As per reports, Arvind Sharma, Deputy Convener of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Punjab Trade Cell, a resident of Jalandhar, has sent a formal complaint letter to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav. He has appealed to the Chief Minister to take strict action against such songs which promote violence, culture of illegal weapons and crime in Punjab.
Sharma said that songs like "315" directly disregard the code of conduct set by the Punjab government and are working to mislead the youth. He warned that such songs not only create an atmosphere of fear and violence in the society, but can also pose a threat to the law and order of the state. This complaint has been marked to AIG Intelligence.
The singer is yet to issue any statement over the controversy.
