The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will start rolling out the much-awaited Annual FASTag Pass scheme from August 15, 2025. The introduction of Annual FASTag Pass will reduce the cost travelers crossing toll plazas significantly.
Interestingly, Annual FASTag Pass holders will now be able to cross Punjab's most expensive Ladowal Toll Plaza in just Rs.15. Yes! you heard it right.
The FASTag Annual Pass costs Rs 3,000 and will be valid for 200 trips per year from the date of activation, whichever comes first. It means, only Rs 15 per will be charged for toll crossing. As per reports, many oll plazas in India charge at least Rs 70, with some charging around of Rs 200.
As per a 2024 report, to cross Ladowal Toll Plaza, Single Journey costed- Rs 220; Round Trip costed- Rs 330, and Monthly Pass costed- Rs 7360.
FASTag Annual Pass is a kind of prepaid toll scheme, which has been specially designed for non-commercial private vehicles like cars, jeeps and vans.
People do not need to buy a new tag, rather it will be linked to your existing FASTag. Its condition is that your existing FASTag should be active and linked to your vehicle registration number. This scheme will be applicable only on national highways and expressways under NHAI and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). This pass is non-transferable. It can be used only with registered vehicles.
According to IHMCL (Indian Highway Management Company Limited), FASTag annual pass can be activated only by visiting Rajmargyatra (Raja Marg Yatra) mobile app and NHAI portal.
To activate this pass, the car driver will first have to verify the eligibility of his vehicle and the FASTag installed on it. Once the verifications are completed, a payment of Rs 3000 will have to be made.
FASTag annual pass will be activated within 2 hours after the payment of Rs 3000 made by the user is confirmed. This activation will happen on your existing FASTag only. You do not need to buy a new FASTag for FASTag annual pass. By making payment on FASTag annual pass, you will get validity for the next 1 year or up to 200 toll crossings.
Once you complete 200 trips or one year (whichever comes first), the FASTag Annual Pass automatically reverts to the regular FASTag system. To continue enjoying annual pass benefits, riders must manually reapply and pay Rs 3,000 again.
It is pertinent to mention here that there is no auto-renewal, and the pass expires exactly one year from the date of purchase.
