AAP government under the leadership of CM Bhagwant Singh Mann and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, has launched a new healthcare scheme that is set to benefit 3 crore residents of Punjab and get a free and cashless health insurance scheme of Rs 10 lakh. This is being considered as the biggest health revolution in the country’s history since independence. This is a revolutionary step that has promised the Punjab residents to provide them with a health insurance cover of upto Rs 10 lakh without any restrictions or conditions.
This is being seen as a historical medical revolution. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has claimed that the such a revolutionary health insurance scheme has never been introduced in by any other government. This scheme has given a lifeline and hope to the public that no matter what background you come from be it rich or poor you will be able to avail this scheme. From a person working in a government job to the one working in a private, no one would be left out.
The scheme covers over 2,500 plus medical packages along with various medical treatments included. All sorts of medical packages from small surgeries to big critical care that patients need will be covered. Some of the packages that are included are: Cardiac care, Heart angioplasty, Bypass surgery, Cancer radiation, Chemotherapy, Kidney dialysis, Kidney transplant, Neuro and spine brain surgeries, Maternity delivery, Neonatal care, Knee replacement surgeries, Hip replacement surgeries, Emergency trauma care, General surgery like gallbladder, hernia, appendix, Advanced surgeries: cochlear implant, Transgender surgeries, Pre and post hospitalization, All test charges, ICU expenses, Critical care expenses, Medicines. The patient does not have to pay a single penny for any health-related expenses.
The response from the hospitals is also very positive as over 900 hospitals in Punjab and Chandigarh are empaneled with the Punjab government. These hospitals will provide treatment for more than 2000 major and minor diseases absolutely free of cost that too without any conditions.
The government claims that this Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna is unlike the big private health insurance companies who impose thousands of rules and conditions before giving you the benefit of a health cover. These private health insurance companies also charge hefty premiums in exchange for the health cover. Even after all these conditions are laid, still there are several diseases that are not covered in the insurance leaving the public helpless. So with this new scheme launched by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann the people of Punjab now will not have to deal with two crisis at the same time. The government has claimed that it is the hospital’s duty to treat the people and the government will be responsible to pay them.
