Punjab has been experiencing a significant weather shift in the past few days, with the mercury rising gradually. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Chandigarh the weather in the state has remained persistently dry for the past few days. As of today (Saturday) the highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded 25.8°C in Ludhiana while the lowest minimum temperature was recorded 8°C in Faridkot.

However, a shift in the temperatures is on the cards as a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from February 16 influence the weather patterns in the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Chandigarh has predicted light rainfall at some isolated places in the state for two days, i.e. February 17 and 18. The light rainfall is expected to be accompanied by some thunderstorm and lightening as well.

On February 17 the IMD Chandigarh has forecasted light rain and thunderstorm in some isolated places of Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Fazilka, Muktsar and Bathinda. The same forecast has been made by the IMD Chandigarh for February 18 as well for these five districts.

Other than this, the IMD Chandigarh has predicted no major changes in the minimum temperatures for the upcoming 24 hours, however a gradual rise of two to three degrees in the temperature is predicted thereafter.
