Entire India is celebrating Dussehra on October 2, 2025 this year. Like every year, the city of Jalandhar will witness the traditional Raavan Dahan ceremony in many areas. However, on October 2 morning, a brief rainfall that was totally unexpected spoiled the Dussehra celebrations.
Jalandhar on Dussehra morning was hit by a brief spell of rainfall. Although the city's weather turned pleasant, it damaged effigies of Raavan, Meghnath, Kumbhkaran.
As per information received, due to early morning showers the effigies of Ravan and Kumbhkaran toppled at Model House. Not only this, but in Basti Sheikh, Meghnath’s effigy was left with a broken neck. Across the city, effigies soaked in rainwater created a gloomy atmosphere among Dussehra committees and residents who had eagerly awaited the evening’s celebrations.
Cranes have been called at the venue to restore the effigies so that Dussehra celebration can be carried out with full fervor.
Dussehra Committee members are currently trying everything to restore everything so that the traditional Ravan Dahan ceremony proceeds as planned.
Tarsem Kapoor, life President of the Shri Mahakali Dussehra Utsav Committee, which organises one of the biggest Dussehra events, while talking to True Scoop informed that 100-foot tall Raavan's effigy will be burnt at Sai Dass School Ground.
While Raavan will be 100-foot tall, Meghnath and Kumbhkaran will be 70-foot tall.
Tarsem Kapoor also informed Jalandhar Raavan's effigy burning timing. He said that Raavan's effigy will start burning before sunset i.e. around 5:30 pm.
