Organiser says iPhone 17 devices will be delivered to winners’ homes
Amritsar businessman and influencer Raja D King, also known as Rakesh Trehan, organised an ‘iPhone langar’ in Chandigarh, where 10 people were selected through a lucky draw to receive iPhone 17 devices.
Trehan said the selected winners will have the phones delivered to their homes.
Large number of calls received
According to Trehan, the initiative received a large response, with the team receiving numerous calls from people wanting to participate. He said the response was so high that the planned WhatsApp groups could not be created.
The organiser said the original plan was to distribute 100 iPhones, while 10 phones were selected for distribution through the Chandigarh event.
Clarification after administration raises objections
As per reports, the Chandigarh administration had stopped the proposed ‘iPhone Langar’, with authorities raising objections to the planned gathering.
Following the development, Trehan has now clarified that participants will not need to come to any location for the giveaway. He said the process would instead be conducted through a lucky draw, with 10 winners to be selected.
According to Trehan, the selected winners will not be required to assemble at a venue, as the iPhones will be delivered directly to their respective homes.
No large gathering, says Trehan
Trehan further said that he would not do anything that could provide authorities with a reason to object to the event. He maintained that the giveaway would be organised in a manner that does not result in a large gathering or create inconvenience for the public.
The clarification changes the format of the proposed event from a physical gathering to a home-delivery-based giveaway, according to Trehan's statement.
Earlier giveaway events
Trehan has previously organised events described as cash, burger and cold drink ‘langars’.
He had also announced a petrol ‘langar’, but the proposed event was later not permitted.
The Chandigarh event is the latest initiative announced by Trehan, with the 10 selected participants set to receive iPhone 17 devices at their homes.
