Punjabi singer and actor Gippy Grewal has criticised Air Canada after alleging that he was downgraded from Business Class to Economy on a flight from Toronto to New Jersey.
Grewal shared his experience on X (formerly Twitter), claiming that he had paid for a Business Class ticket for Air Canada flight AC1504 but was moved to an Economy Class seat shortly before boarding and according to Grewal, he approached the airline staff to ask why his seat had been changed.
He said he was told that the change had happened and that there was nothing that could be done, leaving him with the option of either taking the flight or not travelling.
Grewal also alleged that when he continued asking for an explanation, airline staff told him that he could be taken off the flight and said he was not asking for any additional facilities and only wanted the Business Class seat he had paid for and an explanation for the sudden change.
He also expressed disappointment that he did not receive an apology from the airline staff at the time of the incident.
Sharing the complaint on X, Grewal described his experience with Air Canada as a “really bad experience” and questioned the way his concern was handled.
Following Grewal’s post, Air Canada responded on X and apologised to him and the airline said it regretted the incident and asked Grewal to provide his booking reference and the full name or names listed on the ticket through direct message.
Air Canada said the details would allow it to investigate the matter. However, in its public response, the airline did not explain why Grewal was moved from Business Class to Economy or what caused the seating change.
The incident relates to Air Canada flight AC1504, which operates between Toronto Pearson International Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport and according to the scheduled details for September 16, 2026, AC1504 was scheduled to depart Toronto at 12 pm and arrive in Newark at 1:35 pm and the flight was listed as being operated by an Airbus A320, with a scheduled duration of around one hour and 35 minutes.
