

An intense collision came in light on the Amritsar Jammu-Kashmir highway. The hit left tipper driver seriously injured. The tipper truck rammed into a stationary truck on the highway near Gillanwali village, close to Batala.
Series of the event
According to preliminary information, the stationary truck had a mechanical fault while travelling on the highway. The driver and his helper reportedly parked the vehicle safely along the roadside and began replacing a damaged tyre. As a precautionary measure to alert oncoming traffic, they had placed a warning tyre approximately 50 metres behind the truck. Despite these safety measures, a sand-laden tipper approaching from behind allegedly failed to notice the warning. Witnesses said the tipper first ran over the warning tyre and then rammed into the stationary truck at high speed. The impact was severe, causing extensive damage to the truck and trapping the driver inside the driver's cabin.
Rescue of the driver
A team from the Sadak Suraksha Force (SSF) reached the accident site soon after receiving information. SSF personnel immediately launched a rescue operation and managed to pull the injured driver out of the wreckage. According to the rescue team, the driver was conscious but seriously injured when he was rescued. He was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Officials said the timely intervention of the SSF team played a crucial role in saving the driver's life
Truck details
Sources said both vehicles were transporting sand from Pathankot at the time of the incident. The accident also caused temporary traffic disruption on the highway as rescue teams worked to remove the damaged vehicles and restore normal movement.
Police investigation
Police officials have begun investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. They are expected to examine factors such as the speed of the tipper, visibility at the accident site, and whether all necessary safety precautions had been followed. Authorities have urged motorists to remain alert while driving on highways, particularly near parked or broken-down vehicles, to prevent such accidents.
