

A firing incident was reported outside Chawla Mobile Shop on Saturday and according to police and local residents, two youths allegedly arrived at the spot and opened fire outside the shop and the firing damaged the glass of the mobile shop and created fear among people present in the area, following the incident, local residents acted quickly and managed to catch one of the suspects while the other fled from the scene.
A video of the incident has also surfaced on social media and in the video, the apprehended youth can be seen being assaulted by members of the crowd before police reached the spot. After receiving information, police teams rushed to the scene and took the suspect into custody. He was later taken to the police station for further questioning and a large number of people gathered at the location following the incident. Speaking about the case, Jalandhar DCP Manpreet Singh said that two youths were involved in the incident and confirmed that firing had taken place and that, with the help and cooperation of local residents, one suspect was successfully rounded up.
The DCP further stated that police recovered the weapon used in the incident and according to preliminary information, three rounds were fired and now police have launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the firing and to trace the second suspect who escaped from the scene. Local traders and residents expressed concern over repeated incidents of firing in Punjab. Members of the business community said such incidents create fear among shopkeepers and customers. They demanded strict action against those involved and called for justice in the case.
Police said further investigation is underway and additional details will be shared as the inquiry progresses.
