Speeding car claims woman's life during morning walk in Ludhiana: Watch CCTV footage

A tragic accident was reported in Ludhiana on Friday morning. A woman accompanied by her neighbour were on a morning walk when a car hit them from behind leading to death of one and serious injuries to other. The police were informed about the case but due to shortage of staff no necessary actions were taken.

Sequence of events

According to the CCTV footage, both the women were on their daily morning walk on the Ludhiana Mall road when a speeding Swift Dzire hit them from behind. One of the woman is currently admitted in the nearby hospital and suffered severe head injuries while the other died on the spot. It could be clearly seen in the video that the woman was nearly dragged 10 feet by the speeding car before the driver fled the scene.

Alleges by the family

The deceased woman's son, Mandeep Singh, identified the victim as Harpreet Kaur. He alleged that the police were informed soon after the incident took place but the police were delaying appropriate action due to a shortage of staff. The family alleged that they went to the police station thrice, but the police did not have any staff to file the complaint. He further alleged that the local MLA had also visited their home and assured them that proper action would be taken. However, according to him, the police registered the complaint only after the post-mortem examination. He also alleged that instead of identifying and searching for the accused driver, the police registered a case against an "unknown person."

In conversation with the Victim’s son

The deceased woman’s son Mandeep Singh informed that the incident took place near Krishna Mandir under the jurisdiction of Model Town Police Station in Ludhiana. The police authorities were shortly informed but no action was taken. Mandeep Singh, resident of Ambala reached Ludhiana but even then no sort of investigation was undertaken by the officials. This caused anger in the family and they demanded justice. They said even after several visits to the police station, the case was not taken seriously. In addition to this he also claimed that the police staff requested the victim’s amily to send staff for the police station.

Identification of the accused

Mandeep Singh confirmed that he himself has found out who the accused is but does not want to make it public. He said If the police will not take matter in their vision, the family would privately undertake the investigation. He further added that they informed the police about the accused, but still no kind of help was done. The victim’s son gathered all the information about the accused and his car and has warned that if the police does not lookn into the matter, private investigation will be undertaken by the family.
