

In a life-changing moment Gurcharan Singh who is a resident of Nawanshahr has won ₹1.5 crore in the Punjab State Dear Lottery Bumper 200 draw as the winning numbers were announced on April 4.
Gurcharan Singh who comes from a poor family said the win feels like a blessing from God “Our house roofs were broken but now our dreams will finally come true” he said expressing his gratitude.
He had bought the lottery ticket in Ludhiana in his son’s name and mentions that for years he has been trying his luck in lotteries and after nearly 40 years his persistence has finally paid off.
Gurcharan Singh earns his living by working as a painter and also plays the tabla and other musical instruments at jagrans (religious gatherings) to support his family and despite winning such a big amount he said he will continue playing the tabla.
When he reached Ludhiana after the results he was warmly welcomed and people celebrated his win with drum beats and nagara and his family members danced, did bhangra to express their happiness.
The lottery seller Sham Bhanot said Gurcharan Singh belongs to a very simple background and has struggled all his life and adds that Singh regularly bought lottery tickets for many years and now his luck has finally changed.
