A violent clash broke out between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the group of MLA Rana Inder Pratap, further heating up the political atmosphere amid allegations of candidate kidnapping.
In the Fattu Dhinga zone of Sultanpur Lodhi subdivision in Kapurthala, the situation suddenly turned tense over the Block Samiti chairmanship election. Even before the voting could take place at the Block Samiti office in Dhilwan, a political clash outside the premises escalated into violence. During this, aerial firing was also reported.
SSP Kapurthala Gaurav Toora confirmed that aerial firing did take place and stated that the matter is being seriously investigated. He assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible for the firing.
According to available information, a heated clash occurred between members of the Aam Aadmi Party and the group led by MLA Rana Inder Pratap, during which reports of firing also emerged. The incident created panic in the area and raised questions over the election process.
Meanwhile, Sultanpur Lodhi MLA Rana Inder Pratap made serious allegations, claiming that the police administration failed to take proper action and that one of his candidates was kidnapped. It was also alleged that another candidate was prevented from entering the office, dealing a blow to the democratic process.
On the other hand, heavy police force has been deployed at the spot to control the situation, and the entire area has been cordoned off. Police are investigating the matter and trying to restore normalcy.
