

Punjab is preparing to observe the 350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji with grandeur and large-scale arrangements. Bhagwant Mann-government has already organised light and sound shows in multiple districts of Punjab in honour of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji. Now, thousands of pilgrims are expected to visit Sri Anandpur Sahib on the occasion of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji's Saheedi Diwas.
In order to cater those pilgrims, Punjab Government, earlier this month, announced that it will be a grand tent city in Sri Anandpur Sahib.
IAS officer Sakshi Sawhney who has been appointed as a Nodal officer for all arrangements regarding set up of Tent City and allotments, etc, informed True Scoop that the Tent City at Sri Anandpur Sahib will start functioning from November 19, 2025.
Sri Anandpur Sahib is expected to welcome thousands of pilgrims, especially on November 24-25. Punjab Government has also called a Special Vidhan Sabha Session in honour of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadir Ji's Saheedi Diwas on November 24, 2025.
Since Sri Anandpur Sahib's Tent City will start functioning from November 19, devotees and pilgrims are querying how can they book a tent for themselves and what facilities will they get since winters have also intensified in Punjab.

IAS officer Sakshi Sawhney informed True Scoop that soon a website/app will go live and citizens can book their tent at Sri Anandpur Sahib's Tent City on their own. "We will also be facilitating the bookings with a helpline number and round the clock teams on site. The tent city is entirely free," IAS officer Sakshi Sawhney informed True Scoop.
She further stated that since it is winter time - arrangements have been made accordingly for comfort of all. Langar facility, e rickshaw has also been made available. There will be heavy security arrangements and CCTV coverage of the entire city will be done as well.
Special teams for round the clock cleanliness, housekeeping and hospitality as well will be deployed.
Not only this, but there will also be shuttle bus service for pilgrims from the tent city to various places in Sri Anandpur Sahib during this time. Tent city can house 10,000 pilgrims.
There will be 4 bed rooms and 16 bed rooms. Booking can be done for a period of two days.
Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond had announced that as part of the ongoing celebrations, the state government will also organise four Nagar Kirtans from November 19 to 22, beginning from Srinagar, to pay tribute to the Guru Ji's supreme martyrdom.
The Tent City is being set up at three sites -- Agampur, PSPCL Ground Matour, and Jhinjri -- to ensure proper lodging facilities for devotees.
The Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs is spending approximately Rs 21.52 crore on the establishment of the Tent City.
The minister said that arrangements are being made to accommodate 10,000 to 12,000 devotees daily, with all essential amenities to make their stay comfortable and hassle-free. The Tent City will remain operational from November 19 to November 30, he added.
