A major road accident involving three cars was reported on the Bhawanigarh-Sunam National Highway near Gharachon village in Punjab. Two girls and a young man sustained serious injuries in the collision, while the other two car drivers were reported to be in stable condition.
According to information available, the collision allegedly involved three cars travelling in opposite directions on the highway. The impact caused extensive damage to all three vehicles.
Youth trapped inside car for 40 minutes
The injured youth was reportedly trapped inside his car following the collision. Rescuing him proved difficult, and he remained stuck in the vehicle for around 40 minutes.
Personnel from the Sadak Surakhya Force (SSF), along with local residents, worked to pull him out of the damaged car. He was eventually rescued in a seriously injured condition. Two girls travelling with him also sustained serious injuries.
Other drivers allege overspeeding and phone use
The drivers of the other two cars alleged that the youth was driving at high speed while talking on his mobile phone as he travelled from Bhawanigarh towards Sunam.
According to their account, the youth allegedly lost control of his vehicle and collided with their cars, which were travelling from Sunam towards Bhawanigarh.
These claims have not been independently verified, and the exact circumstances leading to the accident remain to be established.
Vehicles badly damaged, investigation awaited
The other two cars also suffered significant damage in the collision. Their drivers were reported to be in stable condition.
