Bodybuilder and actor Varinder Singh Ghuman was cremated on Friday in Jalandhar, Punjab. Ghuman's eldest son lit the funeral pyre. A large crowd gathered at Jalandhar Model Town crematorium to bid him farewell.
He died on Thursday after suffering cardiac arrest during an operation at Fortis Hospital in Amritsar. His friends allege that Ghuman's body turned blue and that the hospital administration was negligent. A debate ensued between friends and doctors over the matter.
Now, Jalandhar Cantt MLA Pargat Singh has also flagged 'negligence by doctors' in Varinder Singh Ghuman's death. The MLA further stated that Varinder Singh Ghuman's cause of death can only be found after post mortem.
Talking to True Scoop, Pargat Singh also expressed his sorrow, calling Varinder Singh Ghuman “a very good young man, a vegetarian, and an inspiration for youngsters.”
He further said, “It appears there may have been negligence by the doctors, particularly related to anesthesia. However, since the family is reluctant to conduct a post-mortem, the cause of death cannot be established. I hope a proper investigation is conducted. I tried to convince the parents, but they are not in a position to make a decision. I believe something went wrong with the injection, as it was only a minor shoulder injury."
Born in Talwandi, Gurdaspur, Varinder Singh Ghuman moved to Jalandhar. He then earned an MBA from Lyallpur Khalsa College. He was a professional bodybuilder and actor. Ghumman worked with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in Tiger 3 and also starred in Mr. India.
Ghumman's mother is deceased. His brother died in March 2010. The family consists of his grandmother, father, wife, and three children. His daughter is the eldest, while his sons are younger.
