

A special campaign “War on Gangsters” is being run by the Punjab Government against the gangsters and criminal elements in the state. Regarding this a special checking campaign was conducted by the Jalandhar city police on January 23 under the guidelines of Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar.
During this campaign surprise checks of tenants, hotels, guest houses and workers working there and living in various localities of Jalandhar city were held. During the checking, identity cards, tenancy documents and other related records of these people were examined. The main objective of this campaign was to prevent the possibility of gangsters and anti-social elements hiding in the crooks and corners of the city. The operation also aimed at strengthening the law and order in the city and ensure safety of the common public.
During the operation, strict instructions were issued to the hotel owners, guest house managers and landlords to register the information of the tenants and workers working with them with the police as per the rules, otherwise legal action will be taken against them. The police have assured that they would continue such surprise checks and operations in the future as well so that the law and order situation in the region can be maintained.
