Bathinda Records Highest Temperature; Government Hospital Timings Change
The highest temperature of 35.4°C was recorded in Bathinda. Starting today (Thursday), government hospitals and dispensaries have changed their OPD timings. OPD services will now be available from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, whereas earlier it was from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to remain dry until October 21, which is Diwali. There are no alerts for rain or storms. Temperature changes will also be minimal, with only slight fluctuations. Health experts advise focusing on well-being during this period, as sudden weather changes can affect health.
After Diwali, air quality in Punjab and Chandigarh is likely to deteriorate due to increased firecracker use. Experts warn that particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) can rise sharply, leading to smog in major cities. People with respiratory issues, children, and the elderly are advised to take precautions, avoid outdoor exposure during peak pollution hours, and use masks if necessary.
