

India Meteorological Department (IMD) of Chandigarh unit on Tuesday put multiple districts of Punjab on 4-days of dense fog alert. Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Amritsar, etc have been put on yellow alert for dense fog from December 16 to December 19. However, IMD's prediction has gone wrong in the past few days.
For instance, IMD Chandigarh had put Jalandhar and other Punjab districts on alert from December 12, but bright sunny morning was witnessed the next day. Now, the question arises why Punjab has not witnessed fog till now? Continue reading below to know the answer-
As per reports, keeping aside some isolated pockets, no foggy weather has been witnessed in Punjab. Nights are getting colder in Punjab, however, it is being said that surface winds, moisture and synoptic conditions have not consistently aligned over large areas, so fog is forming only in isolated pockets and often stays shallow or short-lived.
Multiple districts of Punjab have been out on four days dense fog yellow alert from December 16 to December 19.
December 16- Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Moga, Faridkot, Bathinda, Muktasar, and Fazilka
December 17- Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Tarn Taran, Ludhiana, Ferozepur, Moga, Faridkot, Fazilka, Muktasar, Bathinda, Mansa, Sangrur and Barnala
December 18- Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Tarn Taran, Ludhiana, Ferozepur, Moga, Faridkot, Fazilka, Muktasar, Bathinda, Mansa, Sangrur and Barnala
December 19- All districts on yellow alert for dense fog
