During the first week of November, there is a weather turn regarding the situation in Punjab: with rain and falling temperatures, there may be a reprieve from the high pollution levels that have affected the region for several days.
The Meteorological Center, in its latest round of updates on prediction, mentioned that a fresh western disturbance will be active on North India’s weather from November 4. Though Jammu and Kashmir will be the region most affected by the western disturbance, on November 5 and 6, there will be marked changes to the weather in Punjab. Most of the state will be under overcast conditions, and there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain on these two days.
According to the forecast, as provided by Accuweather, Punjab will be mostly sunny on November 5 and will have rain in the forecast for the afternoon. And besides, there will be 13 km/h ENE winds.
Although there has been no formal communication about it, the expected rainfall will alleviate the pollution, wash the air, and bring the Air Quality Index, or AQI, numbers of the state to a better level.
The pollution and the smog
For the time being, a thick smog blankets the entire countryside stretch of Amritsar because of which foggy, dim, and haze conditions prevail.
