Gang targets house on Jalandhar-Pathankot road
A group of more than half a dozen armed robbers allegedly broke into a house in Rauli village on the Jalandhar-Pathankot road late at night and held a woman hostage before fleeing with ₹5 lakh in cash and around 22 tolas of gold.
According to the available information, the robbers entered the house and threatened the woman before carrying out the robbery. They then escaped from the spot with the valuables.
Robbers had allegedly tried another house earlier
The incident reportedly took place around an hour after the same group allegedly attempted to enter another house in the area.
However, the attempt was unsuccessful after migrant residents raised an alarm, forcing the suspects to flee without carrying out the robbery. Local residents informed the police control room about the incident.
Despite the alert, the robbers allegedly targeted another house nearby a short while later.
CCTV captures suspects carrying sticks
CCTV footage from the area has surfaced in connection with the incident. In one of the videos, several suspects can be seen carrying sticks while attempting to enter a house.
The footage also shows the suspects trying to climb over a wall. After people raised an alarm, they reportedly fled the spot.
Another CCTV recording shows the aftermath of the robbery, with belongings scattered inside the house and the contents of an almirah lying in disarray.
Makhu police investigating
Police from Maksooda police station are investigating the incident and examining the CCTV footage to identify the suspects. Further details regarding the identity of the robbers and their whereabouts are awaited.
