Women, toddler die as car falls into canal; family accuses husband of murder

The family claims that the accused was involved with other women outside of his marriage and had illicit relations and was not a faithful husband.

A devastating incident has come to light where a swift car fell into a canal passing through a village named Alam Wala near Malout last night. As per reports, the accident has claimed lives of a woman and a child, while the car driver narrowly escaped as survived. It is learnt that a married couple was in the car along with their two-and-half-year-old child.

As per reports, the woman’s family members have named the women’s husband in the case, and have demanded a swift action against him saying he must be charged with murder. The family has said that they would not let post-mortem of deceased be conducted unless appropriate action is taken.

The Kabarwala Police Station has told that family member’s statement would be recorded soon and an autopsy would be taking place accordingly. Reportedly, the deceased woman was 30 years old and died along with her toddler after the car plunged into the canal. At present, the bodies have been recovered and kept in a morgue in a Civil Hospital located in Malout.

Woman’s family members allege murder

The family members of the deceased women say that their daughter was married to Sahil, a resident of Jandwala in Fazilka district. They further allege that there was constant marital dispute happening between the two. They claim that the accused was involved with other women outside of his marriage, had illicit relations and was not a faithful husband. Talking about the incident the family members say that their daughter was going to her village from Sirsa, where her accused husband, Sahil threw the car into the canal and escaped himself, leaving behind their daughter and her child to drown. The family has demanded a through probe into the matter, asked the police to book him on murder charges and apprehend him at the earliest. They further said that they would not conduct the post-mortem of the bodies if their demands are not met.

Kabarwala Police Station assure action

The Kabarwala Police Station has confirmed that an appropriate action would be taken under the relevant section a statement from the deceased family members is recorded. As of now, no police action has been taken so far. The family members remain adamant that a case be registered under section 302.
