Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has landed in controversy during the ongoing 2026 IPL season where he is part of the Hindi commentary panel alongside Virender Sehwag and Navjot Singh Sidhu.
The issue began after matches held on March 28 and 29 when many viewers took to social media to criticize the Hindi commentary and fans complained that instead of focusing on the technical aspects of the game the panel was spending too much time on jokes, poetry and casual talk and some users even compared the Hindi panel to the English commentary team praising experts like Ian Bishop for more in-depth analysis.
The situation escalated when a social media user shared a photo of the Hindi commentary panel and called them “three jokers” and in response to this Harbhajan Singh hit back strongly and posted a remark saying “When elephant walks through the market, thousands of dogs bark” (a Hindi proverb that means when a person becomes successful people often condemn them).
His response did not go down well with many users as several people mentioned that as a Rajya Sabha MP and Padma Shri awardee he should have maintained a more professional tone after which old controversies linked to Harbhajan also resurfaced and
There are also allegations from a section of fans that Harbhajan shows bias towards certain players during commentary.
