Gyan Mukherjee’s Kismet holds the record for being the longest running film at the box office, its iconic theatrical run stood for over 32 years, until Sholay was released in 1975.

Released on October 20, 1995, this film has been running for more than 28 years and is still being played at the iconic Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir.

The film had been acclaimed to be one of the most romantic films ever made in the Indian film industry.

Barsaat, the first major hit of Raj Kapoor, which released on April 21, 1949, ran in theatres for the period of 2 years.

One of the best productions of the time Mughal-E-Azam ran for more than 3 years at Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir.

Sholay, the first blockbuster of Hindi cinema, received negative reviews when it was first released, however remained one of the biggest hits of the industry with the theatrical run spanning over 5 years.

Sholay is still touted to be one of the biggest and iconic multi-starrer film to have been made in the industry to date.

The emotionally crafted iconic Sooraj Barjatya’s family drama starring Salman Khan ran for nearly a year 50 weeks, to be precise.

Featuring two of the biggest actors of the time back in the 90s Salman and Madhuri’s Hum Aapke Hain Koun released on August 5, 1994, and was an instant hit, it ran for around a year in the theatre.
