A look at Women's Asia Cup Winners 2004-2022

2004, when it all began for women’s cricket in Asia, a much need tournament to prepare against the world giants. India’s thumping prowess of teamwork on display worked and lifted the inaugural edition of the Asia Cup.

2005, the second edition of the cup was hosted by Pakistan, and the dominant Indian side made it again. It was Sri Lanka yet again on the losing side with captain Mithali Raj taking the charge of the side.

2006, the tournament came to India, however, the result remained the same, the two powerhouses making their way to the finals, with Mithali Raj-led side beating the Lankan team again by 8 Wickets.

2008, Sri Lanka hosted for the second time in the first four hoping to break the jinx of three successive final losses ending up making it four again by India with Rumeli Dhar emerging as Player of the Series.

2012, was the first-ever edition when the tournament was being played in the T20 format in China. Harmanpreet Kaur successfully led the side to beat rivals Pakistan and continues to hold the responsibility.

2016, yet again India vs Pakistan in the Thailand capital ended up finishing in the favor of the Indian side winning six out of six tournaments. With only Pakistan and Sri Lanka making it to the Final.

Bangladesh

2018, Another tournament and another final for India, however a victory for Bangladesh. Defeated 6-time champions by 3 wickets into their maiden finals led by veteran Salma Khatun.

2022, and the championship returned to where it actually belonged. The heroics of Renuka Thakur in the finals earned India its 7th Asian crown, beating Sri Lanka for the 5th time in the final.
