Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Thursday finally broke its social media hiatus for the first time after the horrific Bengaluru Stampede. The IPL 2024 champions took to his its Instagram handle and announced that it has started RCB Cares.
For the unversed, on 4 June 2025, a stampede took place in Bengaluru, during the celebrations of Royal Challengers Bengaluru's maiden Indian Premier League title win. Eleven people were killed and 56 others were injured in the crush, which took place outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
What enraged entire India was when people were dying outside the stadium, celebration was going inside the stadium.
Although RCB had issued a statement and expressed grief on the stampede, they were heavily criticized. Even the state government put the onus of stampede on the RCB.
RCB in their official announcement on Instagram wrote-
"We are deeply anguished by the unfortunate incidents that have come to light through media reports regarding public gatherings all over Bengaluru in anticipation of the team’s arrival this afternoon. The safety and well-being of everyone is of utmost importance to us.
RCB mourns the tragic loss of lives and extend our heartfelt condolences to the affected families.
Immediately upon being made aware of the situation, we promptly amended our program, and followed, the guidance and advice of the local administration.
We urge all our supporters to please stay safe."
Notably, the franchise is yet to reveal much-details about RCB Cares. However, going by the names, it seems like RCB Cares will be a special fund that will be set up for the bereaved families and it spectrum will expand even further.
