After a man carried his daughter’s corpse on hisshoulders for cremation, another embarrassing incident has emerged from Punjab’sJalandhar district.
Reportedly on Wednesday night, an ambulance driver showedno mercy towards a patient, who could not stand on his feet, and dropped himmid-way as he did not have Rs900 to pay the fare.
The helpless patient laid on road for around 20 minutes in the hope to seek support from the passerby’s if any during night curfew hours. Whenthe police patrolling team was on round, they saw the patient crying for help.Police personnel phoned his relatives and later, the patient’s son reached thespot.
Navdeep, a resident of Phagwara, informed that his fathercould not stand on his own. He was admitted to a private hospital fortreatment. On Wednesday, the doctors’ informed him that his father’s conditionwas critical thus, referred him to another private hospital in the city itself. He further added that the doctors assured him that all the necessaryarrangements have been made and they will refer the patient on Thursdaymorning.
Considering the condition, Navdeep returned home whilehis brother visited the hospital where the patient was referred.

Navdeep further said, the administration of the other hospital told them that there is no vacant bed however, if you still want yourpatient to be admitted here pay Rs 25000. While he and his brother werepondering to arrange an ambulance from the previous hospital, the referralmedical facility called another ambulance to get the patient- Satnam Singhhere.
The ambulance driver initially picked up the patient, while on the way to the hospital the driver asked for Rs900 which Satnam Singhdid not have then. Upon this, the driver dropped the patient mid-way nearNamdev Chowk at around 10 pm and said he had another patient waiting.
It may be noted here that the opportunistic ambulancedriver left the patient on the road if the police would not have been onpatrol, the life of the patient was in a potential threat. However, now thepatient has been taken to Amritsar for treatment.
Pertinently, now the question arises will theadministration take stern action against culprits who loot people during theCovid crisis or not.
