The half-way matches of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 mightresume on September 18 or 19 in UAE. The final match of the season is expectedto be played on October 10, according to a senior BCCI official.
It may be noted here that a three-week window willallow complete 31 remaining matches. During this journey, there will be 4playoff days with 27 league matches before that. It would observe 10double-headers and 7 single-day games.
Notably, the IPL 2021 was postponed until further noticeon May 4 after multiple cases of Covid-19 emerged in the bio-bubble.
The senior BCCI official, who asked to maintain anonymitysaid, “The BCCI has spoken to all the stakeholders and the likely start couldbe between September 18th to 20th. Since September 18 is a Saturday and 19 aSunday, it is more likely that you would want to re-start it on a weekend date."
“Similarly, October 9th or 10th will be the final as it'sa weekend,” he added.
The official further said, “BCCI is finalizing theitinerary and there will be 10 double headers and seven evening matches alongwith four main games (two qualifiers, one eliminator, and the final), whichcompletes the list of 31 matches.”
Notably, India will play its last match against Englandon September 14 in Manchester and on the following day, the whole team alongwith international players will be flown to UAE in a chartered flight for a “bubbleto bubble” transfer.
Moreover, the West Indies players will also arrivein UAE after completing the Caribbean Premier League. It will be mandatory forall the players to go under three-day quarantine before the matches took off.
