One of the key accused in connection with the murder of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) sarpanch Jarmal Singh in Amritsar has been killed by the Amritsar Police in an encounter. As per reports the accused had suffered bullet injuries during the police operation and succumbed to them. It is also being reported that the one of the policemen was also injured during this encounter who has been admitted to a hospital in Amritsar and undergoing treatment.
The shooter has been identified as Sukhraj Singh Gunga. As per the reports, he was brought to Jethuwal Canal in Amritsar for weapon recovery where he opened fire on the police team. A gunfight then ensued after this during which the shooter lost his life.
AAP Sarpanch Jarmal Singh, of Valtoha village in Tarn Taran district was attacked while he went to attend a wedding ceremony. Initial reports indicate that two unknown assailants shot Jarmal Singh in the head while he was sitting in the wedding ceremony attending the festivities. Both the attackers managed to escape the crime scene after firing the bullets. As per reports, the sarpanch was getting ransom demands and threats were being made. A complaint was also filled with the police regarding the same.
