Ban on social media posts with..: Jalandhar CP orders new series of restrictions

Jalandhar CP has announced some restrictions on certain activities and also issued a list of directions that places like parking, hotels, etc, must follow.

In a major development, Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur, exercising powers conferred under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023, has issued new orders to maintain law and order in the district.

In the new order, Jalandhar CP Dhanpreet Kaur has strictly imposed some restrictions on certain activities and also issued a list of directions that places like parking, hotels, etc, must follow.

List of bans in Jalandhar

Jalandhar new parking rule

As per CP's new direction, the owners/managers (inside or outside the complex) of vehicle parking places such as railway stations, bus stands, religious places, hospitals, crowded markets and other parking places falling under the limits of the Police Commissionerate shall not operate vehicle parking without installing CCTV cameras.

It should be ensured that CCTV cameras are installed in such a way that the number plate of the vehicle coming and going in the parking and the face of the driver are clearly visible.

Apart from this, a CD of the recording of the installed CCTV cameras for up to 45 days should be prepared and submitted to the Security Branch Office of the Jalandhar Police Commissioner after every 15 days.

Similarly, a record of vehicle owners parking their vehicles in the parking lot should be maintained. If the vehicle is parked for a day, the name of the vehicle owner, mobile number, ID, type of vehicle, registration number, chassis number, engine number, date of parking and date of taking back the vehicle should be recorded in the register, and the vehicle owner should be made to sign the register.

If the vehicle is parked for more than a day, the said details should be recorded in the register as well as a photocopy of the vehicle registration and driving license should be taken from the vehicle owner and kept as a record.

Apart from this, police verification of the persons working at the parking places should be done from the concerned police stations.

Jalandhar Uniform Sale Rule

No shopkeeper/tailor will sell readymade uniforms or cloth of the army/paramilitary force/police without accurate identification of the buyer.

A self-attested photocopy of the photo identity card of the person buying the uniform, issued by the competent authority, will be kept.

The rank, name, address, phone number and place of posting of the buyer will be recorded in the register. This register will be verified by the concerned Chief Police Officer every two months and this record will be made available to the police if required.

Complete ban on modified silencers in Bullet bikes

A complete ban has been imposed on drivers who make technical changes in the silencer of Bullet motorcycles and use firecrackers etc, within the limits of Commissionerate Police.

Also, an order has been issued that no shopkeeper will sell silencers contrary to the standards set by the auto company nor will any mechanic make technical changes in the silencer.

All these orders will remain in force till November 7, 2025.

More bans in Jalandhar

CP has also directed that carrying and displaying weapons by any person in public places, religious places, wedding ceremonies, parties, marriage palaces, hotels, halls or other gatherings is completely prohibited.

There is a complete ban on making songs promoting weapons, songs praising violence or fights, uploading photo/video clips with weapons on social media (such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Instagram etc.).

No person will give hate speech against any community.

Illegal occupation of footpaths and roads has been banned.

Ban on putting up unauthorized boards on the pavements along the roads and shopkeepers selling goods by placing them on the roads or pavements outside the shop boundary.

To prevent cyber crime and maintain law and order, it will be mandatory for mobile phone and SIM sellers in Jalandhar Commissionerate area to take identity card (ID proof), photo and other necessary documents from the buyer.

While buying or selling a mobile phone, the seller will have to give a 'Purchase Certificate' with the seal and signature of his firm. If the payment is made through UPI, card or online, then the ID proof of the person from whose account the payment has been made will also have to be taken

. The seller will have to enter the buyer's name, date of birth, father's name, full address, ID proof, thumb impression, signature, date and time of purchase, and ID proof of the person making the payment in the register.

There is a complete ban on the manufacture, sale, storage, purchase, supply, import and use of China door (door made of nylon, plastic or synthetic material, coated with glass, metal or other sharp substance) for kite flying.

Only cotton threads will be allowed for kite flying, which should be free from any sharp edges, metal, glass or reinforcement coating.
