
Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur has issued strict directives to enhance public safety and ultimately maintain law and order. Using the powers conferred under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023, CP Dhanpreet Kaur has banned carrying any type of weapon such as baseball, sharp weapon, pointed weapon or any lethal weapon in a vehicle within the limits of Commissionerate Police Jalandhar.
Also, any type of procession, carrying weapons in any function/procession, gathering of five or more persons and sloganeering has also been banned within the limits of Commissionerate Police.
CP has further directed that carrying of arms by people in banquet halls of all marriage palaces, hotels, wedding functions and other social functions falling under the limits of Commissionerate Police has been prohibited.
The owners of marriage palaces and banquet halls have been directed that they will be responsible for installing CCTV cameras in their marriage palaces or banquet halls.
CP has also directed that landlords shall not keep tenants in their houses, PG owners in their PGs, and common people shall not keep servants or other employees in their houses without informing the nearest Punjab Police Common Centre.
All the manufacturers, dealers of firecrackers in the area of the Police Commissionerate have been directed that it will be mandatory to print the sound level (in decibels) on the packets of firecrackers.
The direction further said, no owner, manager of any hotel, motel, guest house and inn shall accommodate any person, traveler without verifying his identity.
A valid photo identity card of each person, passenger staying in a hotel, motel, guest house and inn, issued by the competent authority, shall be kept for record by the person, passenger in the form of a self-attested photocopy.
Also, apart from verifying the mobile number of the person, passenger, the record of the staying person shall be maintained in the register in the given proforma.
The information related to the persons staying in the hotel, motel, guest house and inn shall be sent to the concerned Police Station In-charge at 10 am daily, and the record in the register related to the staying persons/passengers shall be verified by the concerned Police Station In-charge every Monday.
This record shall be made available to the police, if required.
Further, whenever a foreigner stays in a hotel/motel/guest house or inn, the same shall be immediately informed to the Foreigners Registration Office, Police Commissioner's Office, Jalandhar.
Also, CCTV cameras will be installed in the corridors, elevators, reception counters and main entrance of every hotel, motel, guest house and inn. If any suspicious person stays, visits in a hotel, motel, guest house, restaurant or inn, who is wanted in any police case, or if a person staying or visiting in a hotel, restaurant, motel, guest house or inn is arrested by the police of another state, district, then the owner or manager of the hotel etc, will be responsible to immediately inform the concerned police station, police control room.
All the above orders will remain in force till 6 November 2025.
