Jullundur Gymkhana Club elections tomorrow: Achievers Group expected to gain edge as voting nears

Club members to decide fate of Achievers and Progressive groups as crucial secretary and treasurer races loom

The much-awaited elections for the Jullundur Gymkhana Club are set to take place on Sunday, August 30, with the Achievers Group emerging as a strong contender ahead of voting.

The election process began on August 17, with nominations filed between August 17 and 22 and the final electoral roll has also been published through the club’s notice board, official application and website.

The Achievers Group has already secured one position in the election as Harpreet Singh Goldy is set to become Joint Secretary after Anu Matta withdrew her candidature from the contest, citing health concerns.

Matta had been contesting for the Joint Secretary post and said she may require around three months or longer to recover.

The remaining key posts are still being contested between the Achievers Group and the Progressive Group.

For Hon Secretary, Amit Kukreja is contesting for the Achievers Group against Vijay Sehdev of the Progressive Group, for Junior Vice President, Dheeraj Seth is contesting from the Achievers Group, while Advocate Daljit Singh Chhabra is the Progressive Group candidate.

For Treasurer, Saurabh Khullar is contesting from the Achievers Group against Gurddarshan Singh of the Progressive Group and both groups have also fielded candidates for the Executive Committee, which has 10 seats up for election.

With voting scheduled for tomorrow, attention is now on the final outcome.

The Achievers Group is being viewed as having an advantage after securing the Joint Secretary post unopposed, while the contests for the remaining positions will be decided by club members through voting on August 30.
