Ludhiana dyeing industries between Samrala Chowk to Jalandhar Bypass and others ordered to shutdown as Sutlej water-level rises

Ludhiana DC's official notification directed the shutdown of all dyeing industries situated from Samrala Chowk to Jalandhar Bypass.

Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner (DC) Himanshu Jain on Monday announced the close of dyeing industries. Ludhiana DC's official notification directed to shut down all the dyeing industries situated from Samrala Chowk to Jalandhar Bye-pass. The official ordered also directed to shut down many other industries as well.

Ludhiana DC's announcement comes due to sharp rise on Sutlej water level.

The official order reads, "..due to back flow of Satluj dariya at Bhattian STP, the working of STP are effected, and sewer lines are getting surcharged and can result in overflow of sewers in low lying areas."

"So, it is requested that order may be passed for closing of following dyeing clusters temporarily till the level of Sutlej River goes down."

List of Ludhiana industries directed to be closed

  • Bahadur ke Dyeing Association

  • Tajpur road Dyeing Association

  • Industrial Area A and Moti Nagar

  • All the dyeing industries situated from Samrala Chowk to Jalandhar Bye-pass

  • Dyeing clusters in Focal Point Area

  • Scattered dyeing and printing washing units
