The India Meteorological Department of Chandigarh unit on August 30 put multiple districts of Punjab on thunderstorm alert. IMD Chandigarh posted a Nowcast in which it alerted a total of 9 districts of Punjab predicting that there is high possibility of thunderstorm along with lightening in these districts till 8:30 pm on August 30.

IMD's Nowcast in its alert says, ' Thunderstorm\Lightning with Moderate Rain very likely over parts of Patiala, Ludhiana, Moga, Firozepur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, SBS Nagar, Rupnagar, Hoshiarpur'. The prediction is valid until 8:25 pm.

IMD Chandigarh also shared its daily weather prediction according to which multiple districts of Punjab will continue to receive rainfall on the below mentioned dates-

  • August 30- Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, and Rupnagar (on orange alert), Nawanshahr, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Muktasar and Fazilka (on yellow alert)

  • August 31- Pathankot, Hoshiarpur and Rupnagar (on yellow alert)

  • September 1- Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, Mohali and Fatehgarh Sahib (on yellow alert)

  • September 2- No Alert

  • September 3- No Alert
