Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana begins: CHECK key takeaways of Adampur launch event

Under the ‘Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana’ women in Punjab will receive monthly financial assistance of ₹1,000/₹1,500 per month

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday launched the ‘Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’ in Adampur marking the start of registration for the scheme aimed at providing monthly financial assistance to eligible women across the state and during the event the CM also distributed certificates to selected beneficiaries and announced that the scheme will first begin on a pilot basis in nine assembly constituencies from April 15 before being expanded across Punjab in phases with financial support starting from July.

About the scheme

Under the ‘Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana’ women in Punjab will receive monthly financial assistance through direct benefit transfer and as per the announcement:

  • Women from the General category will receive ₹1,000 per month

  • Women from Scheduled Caste (SC) category will receive ₹1,500 per month

What did CM Mann say?

The CM said the scheme has been designed so that no eligible woman is left out due to documentation delays and assured that payments will be given retrospectively from the launch date once eligibility is confirmed along with this he also encouraged women to complete registration even if caste certificates are pending.

The CM also urged women to take a stronger role in society and politics saying their participation is essential in nation-building and referred to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s thoughts on education and empowerment while speaking about social upliftment and adds that welfare schemes like this are aimed at reducing financial stress on households and improving dignity for women.

Manish Sisodia’s statement  

AAP leader Manish Sisodia said the scheme is inspired by the vision of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar for social equality and empowerment and also said the launch marks a step towards giving women greater financial independence. Sisodia also stated that financial support for women will begin flowing into bank accounts from July after full rollout and added that the party’s aim is to strengthen welfare-based governance and ensure benefits reach common people directly. He also made strong political remarks against the Centre and opposition, accusing them of working against democratic rights and public welfare and appealed to people to support the government’s welfare initiatives in Punjab.

Pilot phase details

The scheme will first be implemented on a pilot basis in these 9 constituencies:

  1. Adampur

  2. Malout

  3. Sri Anandpur Sahib

  4. Dirba

  5. Sunam

  6. Moga

  7. Kotkapura

  8. Batala

  9. Patiala Rural

After the pilot phase registration will be expanded across the remaining constituencies starting May 15.
