The pace of development works in Jalandhar Central constituency has picked up significantly. Under the leadership of Jalandhar Central Halka in-charge Nitin Kohli, nearly ₹40 crore worth of development projects have been outlined in the last six months. Of these, works worth ₹20 crore have already begun on the ground, projects worth ₹10.76 crore were already in progress, and new projects worth ₹10.96 crore are currently under the tender process.
After taking charge, Nitin Kohli had pledged to transform Jalandhar Central into a model constituency, and that vision is now becoming visible. He stated that development should not remain limited to paperwork or announcements but should be felt by every citizen in their streets, roads, parks, and public facilities.
Since becoming constituency in-charge, Kohli prepared a detailed roadmap of development projects worth ₹40 crore. Among these: works worth ₹20 crore have started, projects worth ₹10.76 crore are already ongoing, and new projects worth ₹10.96 crore are in the tendering stage. These development works include roads, drainage systems, parks, street lighting, interlocking tiles, and public infrastructure facilities.
Reconstruction and repair work on Moti Bagh main road, ADJ Road, Basant Hill Extension, Ladhewali Firni, Chhajja Singh Gate, Gulmarg Avenue (Ward 6), Kot Ramdas, Central Town, Ranjit Nagar, New Jawahar Nagar (Heat 7), GAC Complex–PUDA Market, reconstruction from Shri Ram Chowk to Jail Chowk, and new road works in Sitaram Mandi.
Upgradation works in the western part of Ward 8, Ladhewali Firni Road, Chhajja Singh Gate, behind New Jawahar Nagar (Heat 7), and drainage improvements in Central Town.
Renovation of Maharaja Agrasen Park, Entrance Gate Park (including main entry upgradation), Bus Stand Flyover–Ranjit Nagar Park, the park near Dhilwan Hospital, Kapurthala Chowk–Workshop Chowk Park, improvement of the dog compound at Nangal Shama, and the Anganwadi Centre in Ekta Nagar–Rama Mandi.
Tile and pathway work in Jagjit Nagar, Dhilwan, the DAC Complex to PUDA Market pathway, tile installation in Dakoha village, and the Malhri Chowk to Nangal Shama Link Road project.
Both areas are being upgraded under a comprehensive plan that includes reconstruction of major and internal roads, installation of LED streetlights, park beautification projects, sewerage and water supply line upgrades, modern playgrounds and open gyms for children and youth, and expansion of the CCTV network to enhance public safety.
The aim is to develop these localities into modern and model residential zones.
