Aam Aadmi Party’s Jalandhar Central constituency in-charge Nitin Kohli visited the home of the 13-year-old victim’s family in Jalandhar West on Wednesday, expressed condolences, and assured every possible assistance.
Speaking to the media, Kohli said that the pain the family is going through is unimaginable. He said the government and the party stand firmly with the family during this difficult time and will ensure that justice is delivered without delay.
Kohli said, “We will stand with the family till the end. The accused will not escape under any circumstances. Our complete effort will be to ensure this case is tried in a fast-track court so that the culprit receives the strictest punishment without delay.”
He further stated that strict action will be taken against any police employees found guilty of negligence. “Hon’ble Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has issued clear directions of zero tolerance. Any police employee whose negligence is established in this incident will face the toughest action,” Kohli said.
Jalandhar Mayor Vaneet Dhir was also part of the visit and expressed deep sorrow while meeting the victim’s family. He said that the Municipal Corporation stands firmly with the family and will promptly provide any administrative support or facilities required. He assured that the Corporation will remain with the family at every step so that they do not face any kind of hardship.
Punjab Government’s Culture and Tourism Advisor Deepak Bali also reiterated the government’s commitment, saying, “The government will not spare any culprit. We stand with the public. This is not a matter of any party or government — this is a matter of the people.”
Cabinet Minister and Jalandhar West MLA Mohinder Bhagat was also present during the visit and strongly condemned the incident. He said, “The girl was only 13 years old. She had gone to meet her friend, and she was murdered in such an inhuman manner. What could be a greater tragedy than this? We assure the family that the culprits will not be spared under any circumstances.”
He said the family has alleged that the police team remained inside the accused’s house for nearly half an hour, yet failed to find the girl and even stopped the family from entering. “This is clear negligence. Strict action must be taken. We will raise this matter before the Chief Minister.” Bhagat said.
He also assured full legal and financial assistance to the victim’s family. “The best lawyer will be arranged for the family. If they need any kind of financial help, we will provide that as well. Until they receive complete justice, we will stand with them.”
Kohli, Bali, Bhagat and Mayor Dhir jointly said that the Punjab Government and the Aam Aadmi Party stand with the family and will take every possible step to ensure the strictest punishment for the accused — even the death penalty — so that justice is delivered swiftly and transparently.
