In a major development, a Kabaddi Promoter Rana Balachauria aka Kanwar Digvijay Singh was shot dead during a live match in Mohali on Monday night. Balachuria was rushed to Fortis Mohali but Doctors were not able to save him. Reports suggest that he was shot dead by three men who approached him on pretext of taking a selfie.
After his murder, a social media post also went viral in which a group linked to Bambiha-gang claimed responsibility. The gang alleged that Rana Balachauria had sheltered people who attacked and killed Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala.
Now, SSP Mohali Harmandeep Hans has given case update in Rana Balachauria's murder case. SSP Hans revealed that 2 shooters have been identified and both of them are from Amritsar. The identity of third accused has not been revealed due to 'operational reason'.
SSP Hans also revealed that Rana Balachauria was close to gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria.
"Rana Balachauria was a famous Kabaddi promoter who real name was Kanwar Digvijay Singh. He was from Balachaur in Nawanshahr district. He was shot by a few men. Rana Balachauria was then rushed to Fortis Mohali in critical condition but unfortunately he could not be saved," said SSP Hans.
He further said, "A post is also going viral on social media in which a gang has taken responsibility for Rana Balachauria's killing. Till now, it has been found that Rana Balachauria aka Kanwar Digvijay Singh is being associated with Jaggu Bhagwanpuria. He was close to Jaggu Bhagwanpuria."
"Doni Bal, Lucky Patiaal have taken responsibility of the murder. Their shooters carry out the crime. Two shooters have been identified- Aditya Kapoor alias Makhan from Amritsar, and Karan Pathak from Amritsar. The identity of third person will not be revealed for now due to operational reason."
"The police are currently investing and will soon round up the shooters and those who sheltered them. Aditya Kapoor and Doni Bal, both are associates of Doni Bal-gang. Aditya Kapoor has 13 FIRs lodged against him while , Karan Pathan has 2 FIRs lodged against him."
SSP Mohali Harmandeep Hans also addressed the allegations that are going on that Balachauria sheltered Sidhu Mosse Wala's killers as alleged in a social media post.
SSP Mohali said, "No role of Rana Balachauria had come in Sidhu Moose Wala's murder case. It is only an attempt to link up the case. It is a matter of record. The murder took place just to take control and established dominance in Kabaddi. There is no Sidhu Moose Wala angle in this."
