Rainfall forecast for 9 Punjab districts today; Check the complete weather report

Jalandhar and adjoining areas had their first rain of the retreating monsoon season yesterday.

After the cool and dry monsoon season, the weather in Punjab and Chandigarh has localised variations. With the activation of a Western Disturbance, rain is predicted in nine districts today. This system produced very light rain in the region overnight. The Meteorological Department has covered Jalandhar and adjoining places for rain today. This is the first rain of the retreating monsoon season. The other districts which are forecasted for light rain today are Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Rupnagar, and SAS Nagar (Mohali). Apart from light rain, weather conditions will give rise to fog in some places.

According to IMD weather forecast, there is no denying that a decrease in temperatures can be felt. The maximum temperature over all of Punjab has reduced by 0.2 degrees and is more typical for this time of the season. Chandigarh was reporting the temperature of 37 degrees. The department has predicted a continued decrease in temperatures, 2 to 4 degrees more in the night over the next 3 days which correlate to the expected daytime temperatures making settling the days more comfortable.

The anticipated weather conditions are no longer creating hassles for administrators like in the previous week.

This rainfall has got a significant relief in the AQI levels also. It is expected that with the rainfall in the comming days, that AQI levels will reduce more. Today the AQI in Jalandhar records at 145, which is much better than yesterday where AQI was 207.
