Rakesh Behal
Mr. Rakesh Behal is a renowned journalist with vast experience in the field of print journalism. Behal graduated as a Mechanical Engineer but went on to build a career in the field of journalism. In 1994, he started working for a vernacular newspaper called Veer Pratap as Bureau Chief, Jalandhar. It is considered to be the oldest newspaper in the region of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal.
In 2002, Mr. Behal joined Dainik Bhaskar as Bureau Chief and successfully launched one of the most read newspapers of today. Mr. Behal went on to head the department of Investigative Bureau where he got a chance to try his hand at Investigative Journalism for the first time. He was able to perform numerous sting operations and expose many ill-practices going on in the region.
Terrorism, Drugs and Politics are Mr. Behal’s fields of mastery. He has done multiple in-depth stories with a 360 degree angle coverage on each issue. His apt ability to do deep drilling and give a factual, authentic and wholesome story to the reader makes him stand out. As Regional Head and News Editor of Dainik Bhaskar, Mr. Rakesh Behal contributed in paramount ways to the media industry.
He switched jobs and joined Punjab Kesari in November 2016 as Assistant Editor where he was responsible for making major editorial planning.
He led the Vidhan Sabha Elections in 2017 and successfully continued explore the field of investigative journalism further.
Acknowledging the major shift from print to digital, Mr Behal is now leading True Scoop with his strong editorial know-how. With True Scoop, Mr Behal wants to challenge the myth about digital portals and create an authentic platform that disseminates factual news and thought-provoking content, hence the slogan “Redefining Digital Journalism”.
