Several schools reportedly received threatening emails about possible bomb blasts in Chandigarh and according to initial reports the emails were received around 7:22 AM by institutions including Delhi Public School Chandigarh, Chitkara International School and St. John’s High School Chandigarh among others.

The email allegedly mentioned threats of bomb blasts at schools and the Secretariat and also referred to two flights: Air India AI 472 and Air India AI 9491 raising further concern among authorities. Reportedly specific timings for the alleged blasts were also mentioned in the message.

Soon after the emails surfaced police and the administration were alerted and bomb disposal squads, fire brigade teams and other security personnel were rushed to the affected schools. Detailed search operations were carried out at all the locations mentioned in the email.
