Dense fog disrupts air travel at Chandigarh Airport; flight cancelled, many delayed

Punjab and other parts of North India are witnessing dense to very dense fog for the past two days. Chandigarh is also witnessing similar foggy weather like Jalandhar, Amritsar, New Delhi, etc. As a result, dense fog has started disrupt flight services from Chandigarh Airport. Several flights from Chandigarh Airport have been cancelled and many have been delayed as well.

Keeping dense fog in view, IndiGo airline has also issued an advisory for people who are heading to Punjab.

At 11:58 am, IndiGo on its X handle posted, "Delhi NCR, Amritsar, Jabalpur and Jalandhar continue to remain wrapped in chilly winter air and lingering fog this morning. The fluctuating visibility has led to changes in flight schedules, and operations may be slower than usual as conditions evolve. Our teams on-ground are prioritising safety and compliance with visibility requirements."

On Thursday evening, similar advisory was posted for Chandigarh as well. It said, "Fog continues to persist over #Chandigarh, #Ranchi and #Varanasi, with reduced visibility currently leading to minor delays in flight movements. As conditions evolve through the day, some flights may be subject to further adjustments, including possible cancellations, should visibility remain impacted."
