Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has said that he does not want to be associated with protests or political debates and during a recent Instagram Live session the singer responded to a fan's question about the ongoing protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar and said he was not aware of the issue and also made it clear that he prefers to stay away from such matters because he is an artiste and not a politician.

“Keep me away from protests”

While interacting with fans on Instagram Live, Diljit was asked about the protest being held by Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar and in response he said he did not know about the protest and requested people not to involve him in such issues and replying to the question Diljit said, "Jantar Mantar kahan hai protest ke liye. Bro mujhe door hi rakho protest se jaisi cheezon se. Bro, I am an artiste. Main thodi na neta hoon. Sara kuch life main kabhi nahi theek ho sakta. Iss duniya main saara kuch nahi theek ho sakta."

He mentions that he did not know what protest people were talking about and asked fans to keep him away from protests and political matters, he also said he is an artiste, not a politician and added that life can never be perfect and the world can never be completely free of problems.

Cites “Guru Granth Sahib”

During the same conversation Diljit also quoted a line from Guru Granth Sahib and he recited "Nanak dukhiya sab sansar, so sukhia jis naam adhaar" and ended his response by wishing both sides well, he again said that he was not familiar with the issue and therefore did not have anything more to say about it.

CJP protest at Jantar Mantar

The protest mentioned during the live session is being organised by Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi and according to information shared by organisers, the protest is demanding the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan and have raised concerns over repeated examination paper leaks and alleged irregularities in examination and recruitment processes. The demonstration has attracted students and supporters from different states and have been demanding greater transparency and accountability in examinations and recruitment. The protest also received support after Sonam Wangchuk joined the movement through a hunger strike.

Diljit's comments came during a wider interaction with fans on Instagram where he answered several questions about his personal life and professional career.

“I own nothing”

In the same live session Diljit also said that he owns nothing in his own name and has put all his assets in someone else's name and said he made this decision because he has gone through many difficult experiences in life and according to the singer many people troubled him in the past but he has never spoken publicly about those experiences and added that one day he would tell people everything he has faced.

Release of Punjab 95

Fans also asked him about the release of his upcoming films, Diljit said he could only give a hint but assured fans that all films he has worked on would be released and during the conversation he specifically mentioned Punjab 95 while speaking about his upcoming projects.

Recent projects

On the work front Diljit was last seen in Main Vaapas Aaunga directed by Imtiaz Ali and the Partition-era drama is set during the India-Pakistan Partition and also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari and Vedang Raina and the film has performed well at the box office and received positive responses from audiences. Diljit is also continuing with his Aura Tour 2026 and is performing at different venues around the world.
