The controversy around Diljit Dosanjh started with a viral social media post claiming that popular Punjabi singer and actor may soon enter politics and become a new political face in Punjab and this said post quickly spread across social media and triggered widespread discussion among fans, political supporters and media circles.
However Diljit himself directly denied all such rumours and responding publicly to the speculation he wrote “Kadey v nhi… Mera Kam Entertainment Karna” which means “Never… my work is to entertain people” and with this short but strong response Diljit made it clear that he has no plans to join politics and wants to remain focused on his career in music and films.
Even though Diljit denied the rumours this issue soon became much bigger after a firing incident took place outside residence of his manager Gurpartap Singh Kang in Gonder village of Haryana’s Karnal district and according to reports unidentified gunmen allegedly opened fire outside the house late at night and soon after the incident social media posts began circulating online claiming that Lawrence Bishnoi gang was behind the attack.
Police and security agencies launched an investigation after the firing incident and as of now authorities have not officially confirmed whether the gang was actually involved and officials are also verifying the authenticity of the viral social media posts connected to the matter and there has been no official confirmation about injuries or major property damage either.
The controversy deepened after several social media posts allegedly linked to members associated with the Bishnoi gang went viral online and these posts were reportedly shared in the names of Tyson Bishnoi and Arzoo Bishnoi and according to the claims made in these viral posts firing was allegedly carried out on instructions from gang linked individuals including gangster Hari Boxer.
The viral posts also made several serious allegations and claimed that warnings had earlier been given to Diljit Dosanjh his manager Sonali and Gurpartap Kang over alleged “fake shows” and exploitation linked to some staff members and another allegation mentioned in the post was related to an alleged incident during an Australia tour where a young woman from Punjab was supposedly promised a glamorous future and later mistreated using Diljit’s name while the posts also stated that Diljit and his immediate team were being given “benefit of the doubt” suggesting they may not have been personally aware of the alleged activities being discussed online yet still no evidence has been officially presented publicly to prove these allegations.
Soon after this the controversy entered political arena and leaders from Punjab’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) began accusing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of having links to entire issue and talking about the same AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal reacted strongly on social media platform X and sharing a post connected to the said controversy Kejriwal questioned who was behind firing outside Diljit Dosanjh’s manager’s house and also referred to reports claiming that Diljit had allegedly been approached by BJP leaders to join politics and contest elections in Punjab which he reportedly refused.
The post further mentioned that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi is currently lodged in Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat while his brother Anmol Bishnoi is reportedly in Delhi’s Tihar Jail and through these remarks the post indirectly questioned whether political protection was being provided to gangsters.
Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh also attacked BJP over the siad incident and alleged that BJP first tried to use Punjab’s biggest artist for political purposes and after refusal residence of Diljit’s manager was attacked and further even accused BJP of “protecting” Lawrence Bishnoi inside Gujarat and claimed party’s “anti-Punjab face” had been exposed.
AAP Chief Spokesperson Baltej Pannu also described the incident as “more than just a coincidence” and according to him Diljit allegedly refused an offer to join BJP and shortly afterwards a gang allegedly linked to people under BJP controlled states carried out the firing incident and accused BJP of trying to intimidate Punjabis through gangsters.
Punjab Cabinet Minister Baljit Kaur also made similar allegations and referring to the sequence of events she said “the timeline is in front of everyone” pointing toward alleged political offer, Diljit’s refusal and firing incident that followed.
CM Mann also commented on this ongoing controversy surrounding Diljit and referring to reports that Diljit was allegedly being pressured to enter politics Mann said the singer had clearly stated that he wanted to continue working in entertainment industry and Mann also said that “such politics should not be done” while referring to firing incident outside the manager’s residence.
At present the entire controversy remains under public scrutiny however no official evidence has publicly confirmed allegations being made by political leaders or viral social media posts and for now what began as a simple viral rumour about Diljit Dosanjh entering politics has turned into a major controversy involving gang threats, political accusations, security concerns and a growing political war between AAP and BJP in Punjab.
