A case has been registered against Punjabi singer Dilpreet Singh Dhillon at Mataur Police Station in Mohali on charges of assault, wrongful confinement and using a firearm. The FIR was lodged based on a complaint filed by Melody House Music owner Raymant Marwaha.
Alleges in the complaint
The complainant alleged that the singer assaulted him over resentment stemming from a failed music deal with T-Series. He further claimed that Dhillon threatened to kill him and his family by pointing a pistol at them.
Allegations against Dilpreet Dhillon
Dispute began over T-Series deal
According to the police, the incident took place at a flat in Homeland, Sector 70, Mohali. Raymant Marwaha told police that he has been running a music company named Melody House for the past five years. Around five to six months ago, Dilpreet Dhillon allegedly approached him to help arrange a song recording deal with T-Series.
Deal failed to materialise
Marwaha said he facilitated discussions between the singer and T-Series officials, but the deal could not be finalised for unspecified reasons. He alleged that Dhillon held him responsible and had been upset ever since. On the night of July 22, Marwaha was at his friend Gurpreet Singh's flat in Sector 70 along with another friend, Yug, when Dhillon allegedly arrived.
Singer allegedly demanded a deal
According to the complaint, Dhillon began arguing and allegedly insisted that Marwaha arrange a deal with T-Series or another music company, claiming he wanted to buy his wife a luxury car worth ₹1–2 crore. When Marwaha said he was unable to help, the singer allegedly became angry and started assaulting him.
Dragged into another room and beaten
The complainant alleged that when he tried to leave, Dhillon grabbed him by the collar, dragged him into another room and threw him to the floor. He claimed the singer repeatedly kicked him in the stomach, ribs and other parts of his body.
Pistol allegedly used to threaten family
Marwaha further alleged that after the assault, Dhillon took out a pistol from his waist and pointed it at him, threatening to kill him and his entire family. He said the singer fled the scene after he raised an alarm and resisted.
Following the incident, Marwaha was admitted to the Civil Hospital in Phase 6, Mohali, for treatment. After being discharged, he approached Mataur Police Station and lodged a formal complaint.
FIR registered
Based on the complaint, police have registered an FIR against Dilpreet Singh Dhillon under Sections 115(2), 126(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.
Investigating Officer ASI Keval Kumar said the FIR has been registered based on the complainant's statement. He added that the singer will soon be called to join the investigation and be questioned
