The particular regions that will have the bank holidays are, Ahmedabad, Aizawal, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Imphal, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Ranchi, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, and Vijayawada will remain closed for the day.
This holiday is observed on the auspicious occasion of Id-E-Milad, also known as Milad-un-Nabi. This day is celebrated on the global level as the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad.
The list of bank holidays by the RBI specifies that the banks will not remain closed in all the states, meaning there are regions where the banks will be operative on September 5.
The specific regions where there is no holiday are Chandigarh (Punjab), Kolkata (West Bengal) and Panaji (Goa), which means that banks will be operating in these specific areas.
Although two specific regions will observe this important day on September 6th. The banks in Gangtok and Raipur shall remain closed on September 6th.
Despite these state specific holidays the online banking services shall remain operational. Although the residents are advised to check these holidays with the nearest local banks and then plan accordingly.
