For 2025, a new month is about to start, and from August 1, major changes will come into effect across India. According to reports, changes will be seen in the price of fuel and LPG; credit card benefits and guidelines linked to UPI. It is to be noted that these changes will bring financial disruptions.

Here are the details about the upcoming changes from August 1, 2025:

1. Free Credit Card Insurance -

A massive change will be seen by SBI users. SBI Card will no longer provide free air accident insurance coverage as of August 11, 2025. The insurance was provided in the range of Rs 50 lakhs to Rs 1 crore on cards given out in ELITE and PRIME cards in association with banks like UCO Bank, Central Bank, Karur Vysya Bank, and Allahabad Bank.

2. Changes for UPI Users

New usage caps have been implemented by NPCI on UPI applications from August 1, 2025.

The changes to be seen are as follows:

  • Only three (3) slots will be given for AutoPay transactions.

  • Bank balances can be checked only 50 times a day.

  • The status of failed transactions can be examined three times a day.

  • A daily limit of 25 linked account checks (via a mobile number)

4. Prices of CNG and PNG

The prices of CNG and PNG had not been changed since April 9; yet, on August 1, they are most likely to be adjusted. An increase in prices can make it even more costly to cook and commute. As these fuels are commonly used in metro cities to power automobiles, cabs, and kitchen gas pipes, any rise in their price is likely to affect daily expenses and commute.

5. Bank holidays

August is full of local festivals and state-wise festivals, and the Reserve Bank of India announces a list of bank holidays every month. This also means that banks in different places will be closed on different days. Any meaningful banking activities must be completed within the first week of the month to avoid any late payments or issues in the clearance of checks.

6. Air Travel will become expensive

Civil aviation prices of Aviation Turbine Fuels (ATF) - the fuel that powers aircraft- will be revised on August 1. In case the prices increase, airlines might end up transferring the cost to passengers, which will increase the flight tickets. Anyone intending to travel in the month of August would do well to monitor the fares, and it may be good to book early so as to avert the last-minute hikes.
