INDvAUS T20 at Gabba stopped midway after open areas turn unsafe, Know what's happening

India vs Australia 5th T20 match at the historic Gabba, Brisbane was stopped midway on Saturday. While Team India openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill were on song in the powerplay, the play was halted. After umpires called for the covers, even Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav seemed surprised as rainfall was not that much heavy.

After the Indian and Australian players left he ground, a message was flashed into the stadium that reads, "Severe Weather Warning. We are currently experiencing severe weather and it is unsafe to remain in open areas. Please seek shelter under cover and follow the direction of event staffs."

The message by the ground authorities in the Gabba raised concern among fans and were left puzzled about what's going on. Fox reported that the region was witnessing strong lightening at that time.

Cricbuzz reported that the spectators were also moved from the lower stands as well.

Soon after that Star Sports showcased live visuals in which heavy downpour was witnessed.

A Sports journalist named Bharat Sundersan took to his X handle and wrote, "You don’t have to be a weather expert to suggest that it’s looking very ominous here around the Gabba tonight."

Weather website AccuWeather also issued red alert of Severe Thunderstorm.

Talking about the match, the Men in Blue are in strong position in the powerplay. Courtesy of Abhishek and Shubman's strong start, Team India is currently 52-0 in 4.5 overs. The southpaw Abhishek Sharma rode his luck in the powerplay as the Aussies dropped two catches of the World Number 1 T20 batter.
