NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Thursday, December 23, 2021, apprised that it will hear actress-turned-environmentalist Juhi Chawla’s plea against setting up of 5G wireless networks in the country on January 25, 2022.

The Division Bench consisting of Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Jasmeet Singh postponed the plea for Jan 25, 2022 and said that there is no urgency in the matter.

Justice Sanghi said, "Today our board is very heavy, hearing in the matter will take time."

In her appeal, Juhi Chawla has challenged a single bench order dismissing her lawsuit against the setting up of 5G wireless networks in the country. She stated that the dismissal of a suit can only take place after it has been registered as a suit by the court.

She also challenged the Single bench’s finding that the motion was preferred only to gain publicity.

A single bench led by justice JR Midha had dismissed the suit filed by actress-turned-environmentalist and passed the judgment stating the plaintiff had abused the process of the law. A cost of Rs 20 lakh was imposed on the plaintiff for sharing the link of the hearing ( which took place through video conferencing) on social media and interrupted the proceedings of the court thrice.

"It appears that the suit was for publicity. Plaintiff Juhi Chawla circulated the link of the hearing on social media which created the disruption thrice. Delhi Police shall identify the persons and take action against those who created disruption", said the court in order.
