An FIR has been filed against the management of Joshi Hospital Jalandhar on Tuesday.  Municipal Commissioner Karnesh Sharma visited the site on 29th March along with a team of officials. Joshi hospital was carrying out the work of excavation of the basement.

In the investigation, it has been found that the hospital has not obtained a ‘No objection certificate’ and was carrying out this construction. Due to this cracks developed in buildings around Joshi Hospital. A case has been registered against contractor Jabbar Khan. Contractor Jabbar Khan put the lives of the people of many houses at stake by digging the basement without approval.

The issue caught attention after the local MLA Raman Arora visited the site. Their involvement resulted in the investigation taking place in this matter.

Many buildings in Jalandhar are present in which parking space is a bigger issue; this has created a menace in the city. Few hotels are also operating without parking. Many times cases have been filed against such buildings but all went in vain.

It will be interesting to see if a proper investigation will be held against Joshi hospital or not in the coming days.

To remind our readers, this episode of sheer negligence started with a complaint from RTI activist Simranjeet Singh when some residential buildings around Joshi Hospital developed cracks due to, now proved illegal digging of a basement by Joshi Hospital.

Mr Simranjeet Singh has demanded registration of an FIR under sections 288, 427,268 of IPC and section 21 of the mining act against Hospital authorities, MCJ officials and the Contractor Jabbar Khan.
