MP Preneet Kaur hails budget as visionary, says it fulfils aspirations of people of Punjab

Punjab budget focuses on farmers and women which is highly commendable said, MP Kaur.

PATIALA, 8 MARCH: Terming the budget as visionary and people-oriented, MP from Patiala Preneet Kaur said that "the Punjab budget presented by Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal fulfils the aspirations of people of Punjab"

Applauding the budget's special focus on farmers, she said, "The farmer fraternity is always a priority for the government under Captain Amarinder Singh's illustrious leadership.

To ease the lives of our annadats,  loans worth Rs 1,186 crore of 1.13 lakh farmers and Rs 526 crore of landless farmers in 2021-22 to be waived. Furthermore, Rs 7,180 crore has been allotted by the government to provide free power subsidy to the farmers."

M.P. Patiala pointed out that, "The launch of new 'Kamyaab Kissan, Khushal Punjab' scheme with a total outlay of Rs 3206 crore will help in making agriculture a lucrative occupation for Punjab farmers.

Preneet Kaur further said that "The budget's special focus on farmers and women is highly commendable. Furthermore, this budget will provide welcome relief to women. The pension for eligible elderly women has been increased from Rs 750 to Rs 1500, an increase from 21,000 to 51,000 in the Aashirwad Scheme and free travel for women across Punjab in all Punjab Government Buses. This comes as a special gift to all the ladies of Punjab on the occasion of International Women's Day."

She also welcomed the announcement of a special grant of Rs 90 crore to Punjabi University, saying that "this grant will hugely help the pioneer university in settling their debt liability and getting back on financial stability track."

Preneet Kaur also thanked the government for announcing Rs 92 crore for the up-gradation of Government Medical College, Patiala.
